Darren Percival on The Voice Australia

It's been terrific to see one of my favourite looping artists Darren Percival, a.k.a. Mr Percival featuring on 'The Voice' Australia.

I've been a fan of Darren's for a few years now and have seen him perform live on a couple of occasions. Let me tell you, he is a GREAT performer and I think the format of the show will suit him perfectly.

Here's a clip of his performance of Jealous Guy at the blind auditions.

When in looping mode, Darren's setup is based around the Akai E2 pedals. He runs three of them in conjunction with pre-amps and effects.

As can be seen in the picture above, the effects used are from the Electro-Harmonix range.  Included are the Micro POG, Voice Box and the most venerable Big Muff for distortion. The syncing between pedals is done "old school" that is; by ear.

Watch this performance of Radioheads 'High and Dry' from Sydney a couple of years ago, it's an absolute feast for the ears.

Darren's albums are available from his website (link below) or if you like, his latest studio album 'Microphones' is out on itunes released under the name Mr Percival. I own several of his albums and let me give you the tip; they're well worth adding to your collection.

We wish you all the best for your upcoming performances on The Voice Darren. Australia's going to love you.
